To use these SFF-8088 connector External Enclosures, your systems or servers must have a raid controller card or a HBA, Host Bus Adapter, with external SFF-8088 mini SAS connector. |

These External Enclosures have SAS SFF-8088 connectors on the back. Dependent on the models, some have a single SFF-8088 and some have two SFF-8088 connectors. You will connect them to you system or server by an external SAS SFF-8088 cable. |

Using SFF-8088 External Enclosures are a great way to expand your Raid capacity, to create a new raid with additional drives, or to back up your data. Depend on your raid controller cards or host bus adapters, you may creade a JBOD, Raid 0 ( stripe ), Raid 1 ( mirror two drives ), Raid 10 ( sets of Raid 1 ), Raid 5, or Raid 6 configuration. |

It is strongly recommended that you use Raid specific drives when creating raid. |

If you just want to create JBOD for storing your data, music, or pictures, you may use desktop drives. |
